Between them, Dietzsch, Zvereva and Yatchenko had more than 60 years of international experience, including the previous five world titles, but none of them qualified for the final though Dietzsch did make a record-equalling 10th appearance at the World Championships. The qualifiers were led by the Chinese duo of Ma and Song. Barrios, the Olympic and World silver medallist, was the only thrower beyond 61m in the first round with a solid 64.44. Grasu, three times a medallist since 1999, went into the lead in the second round with 65.20, with another veteran – Sadova – moving into third with 61.78. Samuels (62.71) and Glanc (62.66) then overtook the Russian, and Samuels then improved her lifetime best (of 62.95) with 64.76 and a winning 65.44. Only Barrios could react, and she came very close with her 65.31 in the final round. So she repeated her silver from Oska 2007. 340 DOHA 2019  PAST RESULTS/WORLD CHAMPS WOMEN’S DT The Australian became the first discus thrower to win world golds in all three age categories, having been World Youth Champion in 2005 and World Junior Champion one year later. In 2017 it was announced that Barrios had failed a re-test of a doping control sample from the 2008 Olympic Games, where she had originally won a silver medal.
