Overview by IAAF | |||
Fraser-Pryce gained about a metre on a Felix in the first 40m of the final, at which point Felix screamed in pain before dropping to the ground with a tear to her right hamstring. The Jamaican led by over a metre into the straight and won by 1½ metres over Ahouré, who kept DOHA 2019 PAST RESULTS/WORLD CHAMPS WOMEN’S 200m 259 her form well to just hold off Okagbare by 0.006. The winner said afterwards “I hope to God that Allyson comes back really quickly … you know she is someone you have to look for when you are competing”. Fraser-Pryce’s sprint double was the first by a woman since the disgraced Katrin Krabbe in 1991. A sad postcript was the doping disqualification of semi-finalist Bryzgina, whose parents had both won World Championship and Olympic medals for the USSR and/or Ukraine. | |||
