Overview by IAAF
The three-time champion Robert Harting missed all of 2015 with injury, so the way seemed clear for Ma achowski to improve upon his collection of two silver medals. In a relatively uneventful competition, the Pole immediately went into the lead with his opening effort of 65.09, and followed it up with the winning throw of 67.40 in round two. Milanov improved his national record to 66.90 to take the silver medal. Urbanek made it two Poles on the podium with his penultimate throw of 65.18, denying Kanter his sixth consecutive world championship medal. “My technique was not that good today but I was maybe lucky and it flew far enough,” said the modest winner.
