Overview by IAAF | |||
The defending champion had a new name and a new affiliation but won the same title again. In March 2017 she married Vladas Lasitskas and Kuchina became Lasitsken. Then in April she was cleared by the IAAF Doping Review Board to compete as a neutral international athlete (the Russian Federation being suspended from international athletics because of mass doping violations). Only Lasitsken had cleared 2.00 during the year, 15 times in 11 competitions, with a best of 2.06. She was one of six clear at 1.95, but after 1.97 the field was down to three Ls: In draw order, Liwinko, Lasitsken & Levchenko. At 1.99, only the neutral failed first time. Order was restored when she then passed to 2.01 and cleared that height immediately. Levchenko made 2.01, a personal best, on her second try while the Pole failed twice before taking her third at 2.03. Lasitsken settled matters with the only clean jump at 2.03, before trying 2.08. | |||
